We are moving to Alert Level 2
By Andy Loader
Does the government have a plan?
Maybe!
The Government has announced a staged introduction of Alert Level 2 which will be welcomed by most New Zealanders. They just want to get back to normality.
There is no clarity for business and the uncertainty about the rules for all kinds of businesses means that there is a large measure of confusion throughout the country as to who may open and under what circumstances.
This decision and the uncertainty created about the rules for different businesses such as bars that will not be able to open for at least another nine days, but the wider uncertainty for all kinds of businesses means they may be open, but not profitably.
The business sector needs certainty about the Level 2 rules.
Even though the Government has provided some rules for Level 2, the COVID-19 website says specific guidance for each sector is still being developed by MBIE and WorkSafe.
The Government needs to urgently clarify Level 2 rules so that the businesses can get back to work quickly and provide employment opportunities for the quiet hard working Kiwis.
